Background: I am attempting to install Windows 7 via a USB flash drive. I have the same version of Windows 7 in both.zip and.iso forms. I've used the official Microsoft USB/DVD download tool to load the.iso onto my flash drive and make it bootable. My motherboard is a brand new Gigabyte Z170X-UD3. The BIOS detects the flash drive and is able to boot to it. After pressing 'Install Windows Now' button, I'm immediately greeted with 'A required CD/DVD driver is missing' dialog box.

I cannot progress the installation beyond this point. What I've found and tried: Microsoft's support page for this error lists that this is caused by having a defunct.iso and/or a crappily-burned DVD. I've tried messing around with any BIOS settings I could find related to the USB ports, including XHCI hand off. I've tried reformatting my flash drive to FAT32 and repeating all of the above. I was looking around and found this Like you I tried reformatting the stick, used different tools to create isos, downloaded drivers onto my usb to install, and tried installing via an external dvd drive that was contacted via USB using a disc. None of that worked so I gave up and went out and bought a win 10 USB install and it worked flawlessly after reading that article.
